Megastar Mammootty starrer magnum opus Maamaankam has been progressing. Currently, he is busy with the filming of the upcoming blockbuster Maamaankam. The film is based on the renowned Maamaankam festival which was held at the banks of Bharatha Puzha during the 17th century. Mammotty will be featuring in the role of a Malabar-based warrior. Venu Kunnappilly is producing the film. Sajeev Pillai was the original writer-director of Maamaankam. He was replaced by senior director M Padmakumar after the first schedule shoot. The team recently wrapped up the third schedule at Kochi. As per the reports, the actor is appearing in three different get-ups in the movie, including a feminine look. If the reports are to be believed, Rasool Pookutty to be part of this film. Hindi-Punjabi actress Prachi Tehlan, Kaniha, and Anu Sithara will be featuring lead ladies of the film. Prachi Tehlan is featuring the role of a warrior in the film. Unni Mukundan, Tamil actor Aravind Swami, Siddique, Abu Salim, Sudev Nair, Neeraj Madhav, Malavika Menon are handling the pivotal roles. Sham Kaushal, the senior Bollywood stunt director is handling the stunt.
