Music Composer Sushin Shyam who is the talk of the town with his tunes and music is in cloud nine right now with the success of “Kumbalangi Nights”. The movie is making a mark in box-office and the background music and songs have also been well received. We (Indian movie rating) had a small conversation with young and talented music director Sushin Shyam.
Kumbalangi Nights have been well received by the audience and critics alike. The songs in the movie have also been appreciated well, what you have to say at this moment?
The Malayali audience always supports good films. I am happy to hear that “Kumbalangi Nights” is receiving good reviews. The success of each film is a team effort and I am really happy that songs are also received well by the audience.
So, which all are your future projects?
Currently, I composing music for the movie “Virus” directed by Aashiq Abu.
What type of songs are there in “Virus” movie?
“Virus” is a big-budget movie with a huge star cast. Background music plays an important role in the movie. Only, if the script demands there will be songs in the movie.
We have heard that Music Director “Deepak Dev” is your mentor in music. What you have to say about it?
Yes, Definitely Deepak chettan is my mentor in music. I started my music career with him at the age of 19. I spend 4 years with him and I still maintain a relationship with him. He has contributed a lot in developing me into an independent music director.
Is there any plans to compose music for other language movies?
Yes, a couple of projects have come up from Tamil Industry, the discussions are going on. Hoping to compose for a Tamil movie soon.
Now, I would like to ask a personal question. You are from Thalassery. So tell us one special thing which you like the most in Thalassery?
Yes, I am from Thalassery. It would be difficult if you ask one special thing as such. I am born and brought up in Thalassery. To pinpoint one special thing means, I would say “Thalassery Briyani”. Thalassery Biryani is one of my favorite dishes.
So, you are part of “The Down Troddence” band. When will be the next programme of the band?
From 2008 onwards I am a part of “The Down Troddence” band. The last programme was held in Hyderabad. The next programme will be held in Kochi on March 9th.
While winding up the interview enquired with him, whether he would be performing in the Kochi Programme. Sushin just smiled and said just wait and watch. The songs and background music played an important role in the success of "Kumbalangi Nights".
