REVIEW

The first half-an-hour or so of Joker plays out likes a farcical drama on contemporary society and politics.

Guru Somasundaram of Aaranya Kaandam and Jigarthanda fame has come up with his best performance. His body language and expressions were so natural and he is a perfect choice for that role.  Both actresses involved in this film are genuine and intuitive.

Shanmugham Veluswamy has ensured a smooth flow of the story and keeps the viewer engrossed most of the time. The art director should take a bow for the excellent detailing that he has done throughout the film.

Sean Roldan's fabulous songs and score enhance the drama in the scenes. The camerawork of Chezhian have been utilized to enhance the impact of the scenes. Editing could have been better with some scenes and there is a very little lag here and there. Otherwise, a technically neat film. Raju Murugan's whip-smart dialogues targeting all the political parties and flaws in the system is enjoyable in the first half whereas post intermission, the film turns emotional with the flashback love story between Mannan  and Malliga

Joker is definitely an eye opener to a society, which blindly follows Gandhi’s saying to close our eyes to wrong things happening around us.
