STORY

The story is based on the attacks of Indian Embassy in Malaysia by a single person ‘Love’ (Vikram) in general medicines. Akilan (Vikram) takes charge of this case and moves to Malaysia with Aarushi (Nitya Menon).

Nayantara comes as Vikram's wife Meera in flashback portions. She gets killed by Love. Meera too was a RAW agent and a data analyst. Vikram takes the task of locking horns with Love and this time what he does to pay back for his wife's death forms the rest of the story.

REVIEW

Vikram plays dual role as RAW agent Akilan and a mad scientist, Love. He does a good job keeping the two characters distinct from each other.  Nayanthara looks pretty in the song sequences, but her character has nothing much to do. Nithya Menon impresses the audience with her character Aarushi, a trainee officer.

Director Shankar Anand had earlier directed ‘Arima Nambi’ starring Vikram Prabhu. The movie has Hollywood-ish action thrillers. In Iru Mugan also, feels like something that Hollywood might have come up with.

In an investigation action thriller like this, scenes must proceed at a rapid pace. But there are instants when we leave the happenings on screen and wander around. The team could have focused more on the story and the screenplay.

Haris Jayaraj Composed the music and the songs are good.  Iru Mugan marks Harris Jayaraj's sixth collaboration with Vikram.

Cinematography by RD Rajasekhar is impressive. He captured the beauty of Malaysia, Kashmir and other places pretty well.
